Lords of Acid

Lady galore rules! She knows what she wants--and although it generally involves young men, she occasionally hits the clubs fronting up the band "Lords of Acid." This band has been on the techno-industrial edge of music since they came onto the music scene several years ago. Although she has this powerful ability to make you get up and dance, she spent quite a while sitting down to talk with us so we ask you to listen to the Lady.

RAD: So how do you like being back in the States?
Lady Galore: Yeah, it's pretty good. I like the States. I like the Americans and everybody here is nice especially.
RAD: Who came up with the idea of the Sextacy Ball?
Lady Galore: We didn't just want to do another concert, another Lords of Acid concert. We did that last time. We wanted to do a lot more where people could come in, there's artwork, there's sex education stands, dancers could come down and dress sexy and do what they wanted, we wanted piercers to come down depending on the laws of different states and do people...if you want to throw your underwear on stage, please f on stage, please feel free. Please feel free to take your clothes off and dance awhile. Someone had advertised the show as "exotic boobs" instead of "exotic booths."
RAD: So what does "exotic boobs" mean?
Lady Galore: I don't know, but I'm sure there will be some here tonight.
RAD: Well, I will try to unbutton my vest...
Lady Galore: Yeah. We were going to have fashion police at the door if anybody wasn't dressed wierd enough then we wouldn't let them in or we'd make them cut their trousers off. But we didn't have the budget to do it. We were going to have girls with whips as the fashion police.
RAD: That would be cool. Kind of an Exit to Eden motif.
Lady Galore: Yeah, yeah, it would be a woman dominating fantasy.
RAD: What would be your ultimate woman dominant society?
Lady Galore: It wouldn't have to be dominant. We wouldn't dominate the males - we would just make them listen to us otherwise we'd put them in prison. And we'll spank them if they're bad.
RAD: But some of them might enjoy that.
Lady Galore: Yeah, well that's what will probably happen. And women with jack boots marching around. And the men will have d. And the men will have to wear skirts for a change to see how they like it.
RAD: With nothing underneath their skirts...
Lady Galore: None. Kilts, they'll have to wear kilts. And then we could have strip bars, male strip bars where all the women get pissed and hang out and drink. Put money down their cleavage. I don't think there are any out there.
RAD: I don't think so either.
Lady Galore: So will you join my Ultra Vixen Band?
RAD: I would! After my experience a couple of weeks ago, I could kill a couple of men.
Lady Galore: I'd like to get a club going called the Ultra Vixens. An evening for girls with men dancing and stuff like that. I think it would be really successful.
RAD: You could make a club like that.
Lady Galore: I'd like them to be all over, all over everywhere. Clubs all over.
RAD: A vixen network.
Lady Galore: Yeah, a network all over the world. "We will rule the world. HA HA HA." I'm just a power crazed English evil woman. HA HA HA.
RAD: You'll have all the white men running around here scared.
Lady Galore: Yeah, all the men in the band are scared of me.
RAD
RAD: They are NOT?!!!
Lady Galore: Some of them are.
RAD: Why?
Lady Galore: Because I tell them what to think. And if they don't do what I say, they get repercussions. HA HA HA.
RAD: Is that typical in England?
Lady Galore: What?
RAD: For women to say what they think.
Lady Galore: It depends on what generation you're from.
RAD: Do you think there's a difference because the guys are from Belgium and you're from England?
Lady Galore: Yeah, there's a bit of a difference, and I have to make myself heard. When you're living with seven men on a bus, you occasionally have to be nasty.
RAD: So do you have a special outfit for us tonight?
Lady Galore: Yeah, I've got a special outfit. I'm not telling you - it's a surprise. Lycra and chiffon.
RAD: And no leather?
Lady Galore: I never want to be a stereotypic dominatrix. It's all been done before. And the audience will be dressed like that. I don't want to be dressed like the audience. I like to be off the wall. I don't want to be part of the trendy culture - skirts like this in PVC. I wore clothes like that fos like that for ages before it was fashionable, and I thought, "Shit, now they're really fashionable" so I went to a second hand shop, and I bought a ridiculous dress like a cowgirl's dress with gingham checks and puffed sleeves. I can wear it after my show and it will be fashionable.
RAD: You picked some booths, like the rape awareness booth...
Lady Galore: The promoter picks groups from town to town, people coming down like AIDS Awareness, giving out condoms, and counseling. I don't know how many things are lined up for tonight.
RAD: Did you have a reason for picking people that dealt with these issues: rape, AIDS, the Tibetan Fund?
Lady Galore: No, it's just that these are things that people should know about.
RAD: Do you have any personal causes that you're passionate about?
Lady Galore: I really think...well, there's lots of things, but recycling that's the biggest thing. There's so much waste in our lives, you know, plastic covers, plastic cups, and these all get thrown away. Where does all this crap go anyway? Why doesn't anyone make a cup that dissolves in three days because you can do it. We have the technology to make these t to make these things. Apart from that, you can't spend the rest of your life worrying about everything.

We started talking about various movies and Lady Galore brings up the men that she would like to meet.

Lady Galore: I would marry him. If he asked me to marry him, I'd say, Yeah, all right. He's really cheesy, I love him, he's so funny. But I didn't get to see him in the last movie.

Lady Galore: Jim Carrey, I love him. God, think of what those lips could do. That mouth. If you know anyone in Hollywood, tell him to call me.
RAD: So what do you have next after the tour is over?
Lady Galore: We've got another tour in Europe, back to our home countries. In Europe somewhere, I haven't seen the dates. Then I would like to go to Japan very much.
